The Brief

NYC Gov Needs Workers

Two months. Five boroughs. Infinite moving parts.

When BCW approached us with the concept, the challenge was clear: unite multiple city agencies, showcase a vast diversity of talent, and capture the city’s geographic breadth—all within a strict two-month window.

From day one, we knew the logistics would be as complex as the city itself. Our solution wasn’t just about meeting a deadline; it was about leaning into the chaos. By developing a streamlined, agile production framework, we didn’t just stay on budget—we captured the authentic soul of the city. From every borough to every neighborhood, we highlighted the unique fabric of people that make New York, New York.

Production Notes

A Month of Momentum Our thirty-day pre-production phase was a masterclass in logistics. We cast and approved over 20 performers—including three hero leads—and pre-visualized our hand-drawn VFX sequences before the cameras even rolled. We secured 12 iconic locations, including a shoot at the legendary Wonder Wheel, maintaining our course even as the New York weather turned unpredictable.

Precision in Motion The shoot kicked off in Coney Island, launching a breakneck schedule of 4–5 locations per day. By integrating “skeleton crew” days into our workflow, we captured the candid textures and fleeting moments often lost on larger-scale productions. Because our crew has worked together for years, the set operated with an intuitive rhythm. We didn’t just hit every mark; we enjoyed the process, proving that a seasoned team can turn a high-pressure schedule into a creative success.

Efficiency by Design

We intentionally front-loaded our schedule, investing heavily in pre-production because we know that a project’s success is won or lost in the planning stage. That investment paid off. Because our roadmap was so clearly defined, our post-production team was able to move at an accelerated pace, delivering a first cut in under a week.

Managing a complex, multi-lane workflow—including hand-drawn VFX, color grading, and sound design—we successfully delivered all 30 assets ahead of schedule. This gave BCW the essential breathing room needed to meet their critical media placement and printing windows without a last-minute scramble.
